Grand Blanc (MarkHeidemanTV/MLive) -- The man known for throwing groceries into a cart on Michigan television died today at the age of 74. Former grocer and store-chain owner Al Kessel died at a hospice home Friday morning in Florida.
A family spokesperson says Kessel has suffered from esophageal cancer for over a year, and lost the battle.
According to the MLive Media Group, Kessel sold all twenty of his stores to Kroger in 1999.
Kessel will be remembered for his humor on the Kessel Store television commercials.
